2048 Versions and Game Modes
Explore the different versions of 2048 available here: classic numbers, larger boards, cupcake themes and practice with undo. Compare what changes in each mode before choosing a game.
Choose a different challenge
Classic is the starting point. Larger boards offer more empty cells; cupcake mode changes the appearance; practice lets you revisit recent moves.
What is included
This site provides the modes listed here. It does not reproduce branded games, multiplayer arenas, 3D shooters or celebrity photo themes.
Compare the six 2048 modes
Every mode here reaches its first win at 2048 and adds one new tile after a move changes the board. Scores use the sum of merged tile values, without combo multipliers.
| Mode | Cells | Undo | Choose it for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Classic 4×4 | 16 | No | A compact number puzzle |
| 5×5 | 25 | No | Nine more cells than classic |
| 6×6 | 36 | No | Longer rows to organize |
| 8×8 | 64 | No | Four times the cells of classic |
| Cupcakes | 16 | No | Original artwork with visible number labels |
| Practice | 16 | Up to 100 session moves | Repeating a decision and comparing alternatives |
Choose Keep playing after the first win to continue. Best scores and boards are separate for each mode and are saved only with your functional-storage permission. Changing modes does not transfer the current board.
Themes, board sizes and different games
A theme changes the pictures; a board-size variation changes the available space. All six modes here still merge equal numbers. This directory lists the versions available on this site, not every 2048 game on the web. If you want a different merge rule, read the games like 2048 comparison.
